How we clean
Every Houmse clean follows the same method: top to bottom, dry before wet, the right product for the right surface, and colour-coded cloths so kitchens and bathrooms never share a cloth. That order is trained, not improvised on the day.

Top to bottom, always
Dust and debris fall. High surfaces — ceiling fans, shelves, light fixtures — are cleaned before floors, so nothing that drifts down lands on an already-cleaned surface. Floors are always last.
Dry before wet
Loose dust is lifted or vacuumed before any liquid touches a surface. Wiping a dusty surface with a damp cloth first turns dust into paste — harder to remove, and it streaks. Dry pass first; wet pass second.
The right product for the right surface
One cleaner does not fit every finish. A few rules Houmse cleaners follow on every visit:
- Natural stone (granite, marble) reacts badly to acidic cleaners, which etch and dull the finish — a pH-neutral product is used instead.
- Stainless steel is wiped with the grain of the metal, not against it, to avoid visible streaking.
- Glass gets a low-residue cleaner and a dry finishing pass to avoid streaks.
Kitchens and bathrooms never share a cloth
Different rooms carry different soil and bacteria types. Houmse cleaners use a colour-coded cloth system so a cloth used in a bathroom never touches a kitchen surface, and vice versa.
Why this matters
The difference between an average clean and a professional one is not more effort — it is the right order and the right product for every surface. That is what training and a repeatable method deliver that ad-hoc cleaning does not.
